Naked 2!

This week I have been a very excited girly as my dad surprised me with an Urban Decay Naked 2 palette! I have been wanting this since I first heard about it months ago and I absolutely love the original Naked palette.

The packaging is better this time around I think as it is in a tin box - the velvet packaging for the original was quite annoying because the lettering started to peal off and the velvet got dirty. The brush is much better as it is double ended with a fluffy brush on one end and a stiff brush on the other end. The mirror on the inside of the lid is much larger than the one inside the original which is also good!

The colours of the eyeshadows are very similar to the original ones but there are a lot of new shades in there. My favourite shade has got to be 'half baked' (second from the left) which I use pretty much every time I wear any eyeshadow! Half baked was in the original palette but I'm glad its in Naked 2 aswell because I can't get enough of it! I also really like 'blackout' (the end right) which is a really dark matte black; which I thought the original was lacking. All of the Urban Decay eyeshadows are very highly pigmented which is amazing - I actually don't use any other brand of make up for my eyeshadows anymore!

Most of the Urban Decay palettes come with a mini Primer Potion which is a cream primer to put on the eyelids before eyeshadow application which helps the eyeshadow stick to eyelids and to stay on longer. However, the Naked 2 palette comes with a mini version of the lip junkie lip gloss in the colour 'naked'. This lipgloss claims to 'cool and plump' the lips and it certainly does cause a tingley sensation on the lips which is nice but I'm not sure about the plumping part! The colour is really nice, its pretty much clear but has a really nice sheen to it.

The Naked 2 palette costs £35 and I think it is definately a must have! I haven't had much chance to use all of the colours yet but I think I will definately try out some different looks and write some posts about those!

gaga, ooh la la!

Hey Everyone!

Sorry I haven't written a post for a while but I have been rather busy with uni and christmas and everything. So I thought it was about time I wrote a post, and what better to write about that my New Year's Eve costume!

So, as you may or may not have guessed I dressed up as Lady Gaga for NYE and absolutely loved creating this look as I have wanted to go to fancy dress as her for ages!!

The Outfit
The dress was from a fancy dress shop in Leeds called Amazing Party Company and is actually called "Pop Diva" dress but it's perfect for Gaga because of the big triangular bits and hooped bits around the side, and the shiny silver "foil" look of course! This dress was extremely short so I wore some black sequined hot pants just incase! I think I bought the hotpants from Primark but it was a couple of years ago now! I paired the outfit with some black fishnet tights which were also from Amazing Party Company. You can't see on the picture but I wore my old faithful black wedges from Office with the outfit and they were so comfortable all night!!

The Makeup:
Skin
First I put a concealer over any blemishes, dark circles etc. to make the skin look more flawless. My faveourite concealer is MAC's Studiofix Concealer and I use the colour NW15. Then I used Studiofix Fluid Foundation by MAC in the colour NW15 all over my face and put on quite a bit more than usual as I wanted a really heavy coverage so that my skin looked as even as possible. To brighten up my face a bit I used a brightening cream on my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin - basically all the places where the light usually catches on your face. I then set my foundation using a powder, I use MAC's mineralise skinfinish powder in Medium. I brushed it all over my face using a large powder brush and also brushed it down my neck - we dont want any tide marks around our faces now! I then contoured my face using a bronzer underneath my cheekbones, around my temples, down the sides of my nose and under my jawline to create shadows on my face.
Eyes and Lips:
First of all I filled in my eyebrows, slightly darker than usual, with a brown eyeshadow and a liner brush and extended them a bit further to the side than usual. I then covered my whole eyelid up to the brow and underneath the eye with Urban Decay's Primer Potion. This creates a base for the eyeshadow and allows more of the pigment to stay on the skin. I then covered the same area in a very light shimmery silver eyeshadow and put a darker silver just in the crease to contour the eye. I then lined the eyes using a black liquid eyeliner, creating a large wing at the outer edge and a small point at the inner edge. I then used Avon's supershock eyeliner on the waterline to make the eyes look really dark. After perfecting the eyeliner and making sure it was symmetrical, it was time to create the lightening bolt over one eye. I used a chunky pencil eyeliner to draw a triangle from just above the crease of the eye. I then drew a line from just above the inner edge of the oppasite eyebrow to the inner corner of the eye. From the same point above the oppasite eyebrow I drew a line to about 1.5cm from the corner of the mouth and connected that point the the middle of the lower eyeline. Then I drew a triangle from the outer half of the eye and made sure all the lines looked like they connected around the eye. I then filled the whole shape in so it was solid black and then covered it in silvery shimmery powder. Almost finished!! I then put a thin layer of mascara on the top lashes and a normal amount on the bottom ones and applied false eyelashes to the top lid. I usually use the Girls Aloud eyelashes by Nadine Coyle. For the finishing touch I covered my lips with a metallic silver eyeliner and a clear gloss for a futuristic look!

I hope you had a fabulous New Years Eve, I definately did! And I hope you enjoyed reading about my Lady Gaga look!

One of my favourite weekends from 2011...

Hi Guys!

Seeing as its nearing the end of the year I thought I'd write a post about my favourite weekend from 2011! My friend Jess (a.k.a Mi Novia) and I went to London for Jess's 18th birthday and I can honestly say that I have never laughed as much in one weekend! It was the weekend of the Royal Wedding so the atmosphere around London was great all weekend (even though it was extremely busy!) and unfortunately we weren't there for the actual wedding because we went down the day after! Just thought I'd say if you're thinking my hair looks a weird colour - well it is! I was going through the transition from purple to blonde!

Day 1
So the day we got there we only had enough time to go for a quick look around the HUGE Topshop on Oxford Street and have some tea before we got ready for the night! We managed to get fake tan and some kind of fruit-fizz alcohol all over the hotel room whilst we were getting ready (oops!). That night we went to the Picadilly Institute which was completely packed! So we weren't out too late but it was still a great night anyway!

Day 2
On the second day we woke up feeling a tad delicate! But we still got up fairly early and went shopping! We had a look around Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Topshop (again!), H&M and you get the drift! We wanted to look around the posh shops on bond street but most of them were closed as it was bank holiday Sunday! Then, after a LONG day of shopping, it was time to get ready for a night out again! We went to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and had a couple of cheeky cocktails before we were seated! After Hard Rock Cafe we went back to Picadilly Circus and ended up in Tiger Tiger of all places and had a really really good night! We took a LOT of pictures on this night so I've only put a select few on here!

Day 3
The last day! As we had to catch the train in the afternoon we thought we'd squeeze a little bit of sightseeing in before we left! So first of all we went to Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. We wanted to actually go into Westminster Abbey because all the wedding decorations and everything were still there but the queue was about 6 hours long so we didn't have time which I was a bit disappointed about! But we got some photos outside anyway! Then we went to Buckingham Palace to take a few snaps too! Because we didn't get to go in Westmister Abbey we had a bit of spare time so we went back to Selfridges and I bought myself some gold Ray Ban Aviators which I absolutely LOVE!

My top 5 beauty must-haves

Hi guys!

So this is just a little post about a few of my favourite products at the minute! Hope you enjoy it!

1. MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

I could not live without this! I wear this every single day and I use the colour NW20. It is my perfect foundation, it is quite high coverage and has a really nice texture - not too greasy and not too dry. It costs £19.00 which is a bit more than the average cost of a foundation but I think it is totally worth it. I find its so much better than cheaper foundations and it also lasts ages aswell! Usually a bottle of this lasts me about 4/5 months whereas other ones in the past have lasted about 4/5 weeks! So it is very good value for the amount of money!

2. MAC Studio Fix Concealer

I think this is actually tied first place with the Studio Fix Fluid Foundation! Again, I wear this every single day and in NW20 to match the foundation. This concealer is really high coverage and is amazing for covering up blemishes and dark circles! I actually have really dark circles around my eyes and would not survive without this concealer! Love it.

3. Batiste Dry Shampoo

I am never without a bottle of this! It comes in so handy when your going out somewhere and dont have time to wash your hair, it also makes your hair a bit more controllable. I find that when I have JUST washed my hair it can be quite soft and doesn't really do much! So if you spray a bit of this on, I find, it makes it a little easier to style! Recently, I discovered the Batiste XXL Volume dry shampoo...an absolute god send! Literally just spray a little bit into your roots from about 15cm away and tousle your hair and....instant volume! Before I found this I used the Umberto Giannini Backcomb in a Bottle but I much prefer the Batiste. Backcomb in a Bottle was more like super-strong hairspray and just kind of makes your hair sticky - not a good look! I have no idea how this works but it keeps your hair soft and bouncy and makes it about three times its usual volume! A definate must-have in my opinion!

4. Naked Eye Pallette by Urban Decay

Since I have bought this I haven't used another eyeshadow!! I absolutely love it! I actually use every single colour in this pallette! And also, this one is kind of a double must-have because you get a mini primer potion with it which is also amazing! But first, more about the eyeshadows! Each one is really pigmented and is so easy to apply with little fall-out. The primer potion is another one of my favourites! It makes the eyeshadow stay on for longer and keeps it in the same position, it also helps prevent fall-out. This pallette is pretty pricey -  £35 BUT that includes the primer potion and an eyeshadow brush. It is such a versatile pallette,  I use it most days and for night looks too! Perfect!

5. Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner

This is honestly the best pencil eyeliner I have ever used! It is so pigmented and is just so easy to apply! It goes on really softly with a lot of pigment and is really sort of smudgy so you can create a really nice smokey look with this eyeliner! Once it sets it stays put really well and is not as easy to smudge, I have found with other pencil eyeliners that by the end of the day it has smudged under my eye, but this one stays in place really well! It is really good to use for either the water-line or around the edge of the eye, it also works really well over eyeshadows whereas some eyeliners do not. Another must-have!

Lovely Leopard Print

Left to Right: Sara, Kelly, Alice, Sally

Hi everyone!

A few weeks ago I went out in Leeds for my friend Kellys 20th birthday! We all got ready and had a few cheeky pre-drinks at my flat in Headingly we took a LOT of pictures so I will only post a few of the best ones on here! We planned to go to a nightclub called Mission but there wasn't a very good atmosphere in there so we left! (even though we had payed £12.50 to get in!!) So we went to a few bars on Call Lane - my favourite area in Leeds to go out on a night! And ended up in Rock Bar (again!) and stayed there until it closed!

Anyway more about my outfit! I decided to wear my satin leopard print dress, which is one of my old faithfuls! I have had it for about a year now and still wear it all the time! I wore it with a brown plaited leather belt and some gold sandals (this was over the red hot weekend in October - I'm not that crazy!) I also wore the necklace featured in my previous post! As for my makeup, I kept it fairly simple - just a gold and black smokey look on my eyes and some nude coloured lipstick. I kept my hair straight for this look because the dress has quite a busy pattern and ruffles on the front so I thought it may have been a little OTT if i curled my hair too!

I hope you like the look and have enjoyed reading this post!

Outfit of the night!

 "Hi guys!
So I thought I'd start the ball rolling with a little outfit I wore on a night out a while ago! Me and my flat mate just went to a little bar in Leeds called Rock Bar. We just fancied having a pretty chilled night out so didn't end up going to any nightclubs afterwards - which is pretty rare for us! But it ended up being a nice night anyway!"

A little bit about me...

"Hello! :) So I'm not really sure how to do this, never blogged before!

My name is Sally, just your average 19 year old girl! Pretty much lived my whole life in Leeds. I'm a student at the University of Leeds studying diagnostic radiography. Interested in fashion, makeup, music and generally anything else I can talk about! I'm thinking of writing about different outfits/makeup looks from everyday stuff to nights out and anything inbetween!

Not sure what else to say about myself to be honest! But hopefully you will get to know me more as I write more posts!"
